A Simple System for Deploying Science Instruments from a CubeSat

چکیده
1 Abstract The CubeSat community has been a research platform for the simplification and miniaturization of scientific instrumentation. Although the instrumentation has been developing rapidly within the last few years, the means of deploying said instruments have been lacking. Presented is a means of deploying a scientific instrument based on the use of scissor-boom technology, which has governed the deployment of large instruments on large spacecraft for decades. This technology has been miniaturized specifically for use on small satellites, especially CubeSats.

Jupiter’s moon Europa is the target of NASA’s planned Europa Mission. The mission hopes to provide the most detailed view yet of the surface and subsurface of Europa and answer some fundamental questions, including whether Europa has a liquid-water ocean beneath a thick ice shelf, and if these conditions may harbor life. It is envisioned the multiple flyby mission would be only the first in a s...

CubeSats have developed rapidly over the past decade with the advent of a containerized deployer system and ever increasing launch opportunities. These satellites have moved from an educational tool to teach students about engineering challenges associated with satellite design, to systems that are conducting cutting edge earth, space and solar science. Early variants of the CubeSat had limited...

Encountering series-compensated transmission lines, sub-synchronous resonance (SSR) may strike the power system by jeopardizing its stability and mechanical facilities. This paper aims to verify the capability of static synchronous series compensator (SSSC) in mitigating the mechanical and electrical oscillations such as SSR in wind farm integrations. A wind turbine with a self–excited inductio...
